The castle Egg is a medieval fortress in Egg, just 5 kilometers from Bernried. The fortress was first mentioned in a document as early as 1103 and the castle was extended to more than a tower and the Medieval fortifications in 1836. You can explore the outside of the castle on your own. If you would like to visit the interiors, you should join one of the guided tours of the banqueting halls and the hall of mirrors, which hosts weddings regularly. The tower is 45 meters tall and makes the fortress very impressive.

The Benedictine abbey in Metten dates back to the year 766 and is still home to a monastery and a school. The monastery grounds can be visited on guided tours. Not only the Gothic and Baroque architecture is highly impressive, you should also visit the library with its marvelous frescoes and plaster work. The church and the great hall regularly host concerts with classical music, choirs, and chamber orchestra music. Metten Abbey plays an important role in the region’s culture.
